I really need some help with this level. I can't get past the beginning, and I've no ideas left. I'm stuck at the very beginning with the two bombs & the water. I step on the green button and the block covers the water (but I don't step on it yet). Then the fire keeps going around making more blocks, until no more can be made. The fire then turn towards the bombs, but only one bomb is destroyed, leaving me stuck. So, the only I can do is drown, get killed by the bomb, or step on the "dirt". I choose the "dirt" but since the ice is there I get run over by the other block(s). I've tried moving as fast as my fingers allow, thinking that Chip could step on the "dirt" and QUICKLY move up, HOME FREE. BUT, it doesn't work. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Am I moving too slowly, or is the way of the "island" I'm completely missing.

Please, help.

Thanks,

ChristinaC

Cristina,

RE: Start of level 123

Yes it is a kick block and move up situation.

First block step on it. Let second block come out and rest on first block.

Now stop blocks from being made right away by stepping on green button and opening the wall block which will cause the fire ball to avoid the red button. Ok now this is the fun part. You are going to kick the block resting on the first one out onto the ice just at the right time to make the fire ball hit the block and turn and take out one of the bombs. ( the one on the right of course)...be sure to move back to the left quickly or you will get hit by the moving block coming back...This will take a few trys but eventually you will get the block to make the fire ball turn and take out the bomb. Now when the bomb has been removed it is a standard CHIPS CHALLENGE kick block onto ice and move quickly up out of the way of the moving block coming back. It works this way....The real trick is to only let the fireball build two blocks. You control this with the green button.

Keep at it, and don't quit..

The trick to getting rid of the monsters is to use the ice slides.

If you only stepped on the green toggle dot twice (once to toggle the grey wall-block on and once to toggle it off) there should only be six monsters to take care of.

Using the ice slides on the sides and bottom, lure the monsters toward the bottom of the "room." Using the left and right lower ice slides, you can lure the mosters to jump across the ice and get stuck in the force fields. I have "stuck" as many as five monsters there, but four is enough.

When you only have two monsters left, go back to the top. You can now step off the "safe" dirt directly above the room for a moment so they are both above it, then step back down, and lure them to the right of the "safe" dirt. Then you go left, and pick up the two chips on that side.

Return to the top of the room and repeat the manouver, luring them to the left side. You can then "exit right," pick up your last chip, and finish the game.

Good Luck!

Barbara,

Lvl. 123 ... I tried Alice's tip. It worked great. After you get off the island, go to the bottom. Do you see the "zip floor". It only goes one way, up. If you go across the ice floors, you can lure the frog creatures down there. They'll hop across, go up the zip floor, and get stuck there. Get it? It's ingenious!

Good luck,

Christina

1st I slide back & forth along the side ice slides til I attract the monsters to there. Once they're there, I run down to the lower ice slide on the same side & slide up & down a coulple of times til they follow me there. If they don't all follow me down, I go back up & slide sideways again (if it's safe), & then go back down & hope they the rest follow me down. Once I have them all down by the lower slide, I go to the other side & do the same with the monsters on that side. Occasionally I get lucky & some of them trap themselves in the lower part.

Anyway, once they're all busy guarding the lower slides, I run like h*** out & over to get the chips. They start to come after me when I'm getting the bottom chips, but I just out run & out maneuver them while I race to the finish. Hope this helps.

Level 123 ~ I'm assuming nobody does the following, as this is what I did to increase my time. When on the island in the start, Chip steps on the green button, then the fireball "trips" the red button and a block comes out. You then step on the block. Now, as the fireball passes for the second time, another block comes out. Now here's the new tip... I used to wait for the fireball to pass a third time before kicking the block at it. Not necessary! As the fireball passes the second time and the block comes out, kick it right away. This will immediately save you time. Now for the frogs? It isn't necessary to trap all, or even most of the frogs. You need only trap one frog, just as long as the frog is to the right of the red button above the zip floor. This will slow the fireballs down enough so that Chip can pass. Then, get the chips and exit. That's it.

I hope this helps. Please, let me know. Thank you,

Christina

i have been trying and trying to make this level....i've got my score up to 262, but that's 4 seconds behind the top score, and i can't for the life of me figure out how to make it get any faster.

I've already managed to kick the block into the fireball's path on it's second pass (although i can only manage it about one in ten tries - i can't figure out when to kick it, even though there's hardly any choices). And i have discovered something i've never seen anybody report...you can sometimes push the block past the fireball cloner without blocking the cloner. If you hit it just right, the fireballs bounce off the block, and Chip can make it through. I've done it several times.

AND i'm not even trying to trap any monsters in the force fields. I just get them sort of trapped near the bottom, to give myself a running start at the chip on the left. What am i missing? John?

Alice & Kathy,

I took another look at Level 123 and this is what I remember doing. Christina posted a hint about this level but it has long been removed from the board. Anyway I played with it a bit and found that after you get past the fire ball go strait down to the ice on the right side and have the bugs follow you down. Moving chip up and down just enough to get the bugs lower than the force fields you go left just above the force fields and the bouncing ball. The bug will go in that area and stop the ball from moving. From there you go up past the stopped fireball cloner, left and pickup chips around to exit. For some reason this way only works once in a while. I am not sure what the everytime answer is but now and then the bugs will get low enough without getting chip to get up into that bouncing ball area and stop the ball which in turn stops the cloner. Note: sometimes one of the bugs on the left will stop the ball. Usually you can't get the bugs low enough doing it this way but once in a while it will work. I don't know if this is the best way but it might help you explore a bit and see what you can come up with. I remember when Christina posted her hint it was all the rage on the board. I am pretty sure it has to do with getting the bug or bugs in the bouncing ball area. Just playing around with it that way I picked up a 264 but with a little luck and finding the quick way to pick up chips a 266 is very possible. I did get a 266 before so it can be done. Work the ice and the bugs and let me know what you two discover.

Level 123 267

Try: After you get by the fireball, off the Island, go strait down to the verticle ice. I have found that going down up, down up, down up and then left sometimes the bug will have stopped the moving ball, which in turn stops the cloner. Go up past the cloner and left and around picking up chips. Don't let the bugs distract you. Chip can outrun them easy.

Way to go Kathy.

There are at least two more seconds there for you. Good luck. One time saver is to: After you get the second chip go up and cross the ice when you are going right to get the third chip. That last bug wakes up too late go get you. I'll be watching for your new score.

I'm Aboard Again...

Jumping back into the fray with lots of catching up to do! My, but we've been a busy bunch of Chipsters!

O.K. so first on my list is level 123. Thought I'd reached Nirvana with 266 ......Wrong! Have managed a 267. Think I'm losing those two points as I stand gaping in amazement when the green beast makes it into the force field and stops the cloner!

A point of distinction is that Chip should launch the block when the fireball is squarely on the block cloner button.

Can't tell you how much fun it is to be Chipping again...

Hi Maybelle....welcome home.

A point of interest on kicking the block...after zillions of tries, i finally found out i do much better by watching the block than the fireball. I just wait until the block lands beside Chip, then i kick it. I've gone from a 1 in 10 success ratio to about an 8 in 10 success ratio that way.

Another tip...after getting off the "island," move two down instead of three down before going left. This keeps the monsters on the left up a little higher (by one square) so that you have more time on the ice slide (I'm using the left slide). I concur with John that three "down and ups" on the ice slide and then a quick run to the right is what it takes to lure a monster in to block the ball. I am also using John's trick of going up and across the two lower ice slides after getting the second chip.

Hope this helps.

Kathy...

I don't generate any blocks to use for the exit. If you can trap the monster so it will stand on the red button, it will stop the fireballs. If you can get such a high score and be making two blocks as well.....when you get the monster trick down pat and don't have to make any, you're going to scorch us!

The best thing i can figure out about the monsters is this: It's got to be a matter of timing (just like kicking the block to get the fireball). I think that if a monster slips up into the ball area while the ball it coming toward it, it seems to get stuck on the side square and not be able to move over to the red button. But if it happens to slip into the ball area while the ball is heading away from it, it sort of follows the ball until the monster is on the middle square over the red button and the ball is trapped to one side.

I don't know if this helps, but good luck! This is another level with lots and lots of little secrets .

Make that 269 for Level 123!!!

What really did it for me was not pausing for a single millesecond after the third slide down the ice chute AND John's slick idea about sliding across the ice down below! You all are transcending to a New Level of Chip's Excellence!

I found a different way to do the beginning of this level. It's easier, but maybe not the proper way to do it. First, I hit the green switch and step back up. When the first block comes down, I leave it just like it is (mud). Then I let another block come down and it bounces between the mud and the wall. Immediately after that, I hit the green switch again. The fireball will go through the moving block once, but the second time it will hit the moving block and then hit the bomb. Then, I just go over and up quickly and I'm done with that!

Here's another way... Get out of the prison by pushing a block in its path so that the fireball collides on the bomb. Then, go down to the ice chute to the right and slide it four times. Some of the teeth monsters should hopefully trap themselves in the force floor. Then go up and leave via the fireball cloner, which should kindly stop generating as you pass! Then, go to the left, get the chips, slide on the ice and exit! You should be able to get 271 seconds if everything succeeds.
